Beavers

About our Beaver Colony

Beavers are our second youngest section, and generally meet for an hour and a half per week. They begin to learn about all that Scouting has to offer by being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative and explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout sleepover with their friends.

Who are we?

We are girls and boys aged 6 and 7 years old.

When do we meet?

We meet on Thursdays 18:00 to 19:30.

What are Beavers?

Beavers began in 1982, became part of The Scout Association in 1986, and is the second youngest section in the Scouting family. Both boys and girls can join around their 6th birthday. They 'swim-up' to the Cub section when they are 8.

How much does it cost?

We have a monthly subscription of £15 per month. Adventurous activities can incur an additional cost.

What makes the 10th Beavers so good?

We try new things

We meet every week and try new things like science experiments and learning about the world around us, through visits, games and activities.

Adventurous activities

We learn by doing! Whether thats swimming or climbing, sports or caving, archery or zip wire! We do lots!

Going outdoors

We love the outdoors, its in our blood. We go on hikes, pond dipping, mini beast hunts and trail walking. We especially love where we live!

Learning about the community

We often go on trips and visits to learn about the world around us. We have been to fire stations, libraries and even had the police visit us.

Making new friends

We make lots of new friends by playing games, completing challenges and working in teams. Our group is one big family after all!

Being successful

Throughout our time at Beavers, all of our success is shown in the badges we earn, which sit proudly on our uniforms.

Nights away

We love to camp and try to get away during the year as a group and sometimes we have District camps, where we camp with all the Beavers in Bournemouth!

Taking pride in ourselves

We like to look smart in our bright blue uniform and our group coloured neckers. We wear it proudly when we meet and go out in public.

Most importantly, we have fun!

We offer lots of different activities, games and camps to suit everyone.. Come and find out for yourself!
