Scouts

About our Scout Troop

Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.

Who are we?

We are girls and boys aged 10 to 14 years old.

When do we meet?

We meet on Tuesdays 19:30 to 21:00.

What are Scouts?

The Scouts section is where it all began, with Baden-Powell’s first experimental camp in Dorset. Both boys and girls can join around their 10th birthday. They ‘move-up’ to the Explorer Scout section around their 14th birthday.

How much does it cost?

We have a monthly subscription of £15 per month. Adventurous activities can incur an additional cost.

What makes the 10th Scouts so good?

Adventurous activities

You name it, we do it! Scouts are the oldest section, and we mean business! The sky is the limit with our camps and activities.

Getting out and about

We actively engage with our local community, through trips, visits and fundraising. We love camping and exploring not just in our local area, but across the country and the world!

Scouts are do-ers...

We give everything a go, from caving to climbing, camping in the snow to hikes in the sun and raft building to sailing. The world is our oyster!

Wild adventures

Nothing stops us, no rain is wet enough, no snow is cold enough and no summer is hot enough! We try our best all year round to have adventure everyday! Its in our blood!

Making new friends

We make lots of new friends by taking part in adventurous activities, completing challenges and working in teams. Our Scout group is one big family after all!

Being successful

We are encouraged to make the most of every activity and camp to help gain the skills and experiences to gain top scouting awards, which transfer across to awards such as the DofE awards.

Personal challenges

The leaders encourage us to take the lead and better ourselves by facing our fears head on and never giving up, no matter how hard it gets.

Being independent

We are encouraged to be the masters of our own destiny! We are often set a task and expected to use our initiative to make it work. We learn lots of skills that will help us in life.

Most importantly, we have fun!

Scouts provides experiences that otherwise may not be possible. We are one big family, and all of us agree its amazing to be a part of. Come and find out for yourself!
